Christmas Peace in a Broken Heart
Ismat was a child like any other he loved to play, his heart was full of dreams, and his passion for learning shone in his eyes every time he heard new information or listened to a story. But the war in Syria came and stole childhood from countless children, and Ismat was one of them. His life changed overnight, forcing his family to flee their home in search of safety.
For a while, life remained heavy and uncertain. Then, a new chapter began when Ismat’s family found Heart for Lebanon. They started attending church, and Ismat enrolled in school and joined the Children at Risk program. As time passed, he began sharing what he learned with his friends, and he would go home eager to tell his family everything he discovered.
Among all the stories he heard, the story of the birth of Jesus touched him the most. He spoke about it with great enthusiasm, saying, “Jesus came to give the world peace, love, and hope. He was crucified for us, and we shouldn’t listen to the devil or let him control us. We should put the Lord first in our lives and not envy others.”
Reflecting on his personal journey, Ismat shared that his life before knowing Jesus was filled with sadness; the war had taken away many things he loved. But after encountering Christ and allowing His light to enter his heart, everything changed he found peace. This transformation was visible not only in his words but also in his actions and behavior. He went from being a shy, silent child to one who participates, interacts, and learns with confidence.

“I feel calm, peaceful, and happy when I’m at the club. I can really feel God’s presence there. The team helped me get to know Jesus better. Jesus is loving, kind, patient, forgiving, and humble. He is my only Savior, Redeemer, and friend. I always talk to him and ask for wisdom, guidance, forgiveness, and encouragement.” Elio expressed happily
