The summer is over and the rush to finish 2023 is on the mind of all of us. So before we embark on a fast and busy schedule, planning for Christmas and end-of-year activities, I want to take this moment to personally thank you for investing in the ministry of Heart for Lebanon.
This has been a fun and exciting summer. We have seen great ministry programs come to fruition. Let me mention just a few:
The highlight of the last few months was our Summer of Hope Campaign. Hundreds of students enjoyed summer camp activities, Bible clubs, sports, Hope on Wheels programs, and more. Lebanese underprivileged children along with Syrian refugee kids had the opportunity to learn and play in a welcoming and safe environment. Our teachers were privileged to spend long hours visiting and encouraging students and their parents. They had the privilege to learn first hand about the challenges each family is experiencing and how to help their children cope with hardship. The opportunity to share the Gospel with many was wide open. We are grateful!
A new ministry program was launched at our Hope Ministry Center in Zahleh. A medical and dental clinic is another opportunity we are given to care for the thousands of individuals God has called us to serve in the Bekaa Valley. We have local doctors serving with us and in a couple of weeks we will host our first medical mission team on site. This is exciting!
The new academic year has just started and 1,200 students were blessed to receive backpacks and the necessary school supplies for this school year. The joy each student expressed upon receiving a new backpack was priceless!
The summer ended with 26 adults from our Hope Evangelical Churches getting baptized. What an amazing service this was! Seeing men and women – Lebanese and refugees – Muslim born and Kurdish born believers – individuals from different ethnic and religious backgrounds – all committed followers of Christ – publicly and boldly declaring Jesus as Lord was a humbling experience.
We serve faithfully through food distributions, educational programs, and fun activities. We care for the physical and emotional needs of each individual we serve. By doing that, we get the honor to answer this one question: why do you care? This question leads us to share the Gospel with many families and individuals. Nothing excites us more than seeing people accepting Christ as their personal savior and joining one of our many Bible Study and Discipleship classes as well as our Worship Gatherings. This summer, we had a weekly average of 950 individuals in one or more Spiritual Formation programs. This is worth celebrating!
Friends, we have much to be grateful for! God continues to tremendously bless us! He does that through His faithful children around the world. Thank you for praying for and for investing in Heart for Lebanon. Thank you for joining us in sharing Christ’s hope in the midst of despair. Together we are making a difference for eternity.
