Refugee Increase In Bekaa

Since the start of the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley has seen a sharp increase in the number of refugees residing there. In comparison to the entire Syrian refugee population in Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley is home to 34% of these families, well above any other area in the country. As the Bekaa Valley is located along the Anti-Lebanon mountain border with Syria and a relatively easy location to reach, this number will only continue to grow as the refugee crisis grows.

The Heavy Population Of Refugees

This heavy population of refugees in the Bekaa Valley has logistically placed a great strain on the local population, both economically and agriculturally, as resources are spread thin and work is becoming more and more difficult to find. The Bekaa Valley Ministry Center will be located approximately one mile outside of the center of Zahle, this property is located in an agricultural area that is removed from the busyness of the city but is only a ten-minute drive from central Zahle.

The Location

This distance is good for several reasons:

ONE

Removal from the hectic nature of the city provides a calm and quiet environment that is excellent for ministry activities

TWO

Allow Heart for Lebanon to consolidate all its ministries in Bekaa Valley to one secure location which will help with efficiency and effectiveness

THREE

Accessible from various parts of the Bekaa Valley and easy to access from Beirut and Mount Lebanon

FOUR

Strategically located in an area that will allow us to serve both the refugee community and the local Lebanese community

You Are Invited To Extend
The Love Of Christ To Those
Who Are Suffering The Most

In the midst of this bleak picture, the faith community is called to extend the love of Christ to those who are suffering the most. We are called to help move people from despair to hope, hope in Christ alone. We are commissioned to champion the cause of the poor and serve the world’s most vulnerable.

Heart for Lebanon invites you to join us in this God-size opportunity in telling the story of hope restored through Christ. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who are marginalized and rejected. In our Hope Ministry Center – Bekaa, children and families will experience Christ-like compassionate care by receiving physical, emotional, and spiritual nourishment.

The New Facility

This new facility will more than double our ministry capacity in the Bekaa Valley. It will be our HUB in the Bekaa Valley with space for:

Classrooms

Classrooms for our Hope Center activities with the capacity to hold 250 students

A Chapel

A 250-seat Chapel that will also be used as a refugee church

Relief and Care Space

Relief and Community Care distribution and activity space for Health awareness, medical screening, clean water education, food and hygiene storage, and winterization kit storage

This property will serve as
the long-term ministry base

At 33,700 square feet, this property is large enough to hold not only the building that will serve as the center for the Bekaa Valley ministry, but also several other additional items, including a grassy play area with trees, parking lot, and sport fields – all with room to grow. As this property will serve as the long-term ministry base for the Bekaa Valley, it was important to choose a location that is not only strategically central, but strategic in terms of capacity for growth; this property is both.

Early in 2015 H4L did a ministry and security assessment of our work in the Bekaa Valley. This assessment, done under the direction of the Board of Directors and upon their review of the findings, a 4 1/2 year Capital Campaign was launched to more effectively and efficiently minister in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon.
