Engage with Middle East Orphans*
* By Middle Eastern standards, an orphan is a child under 18 years of age who has lost one or both parents to any cause of death
Heart for Lebanon gives priority to widows and orphans in very practical ways. As an investor, you are invited to engage with us in reaching more orphans with the love of Jesus Christ.
Join Sustaining Hope: Many children are living below the poverty line in Lebanon, most with their mother and 4 siblings. Last November the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees reported that 70,000 Syrian refugee families are living without a father of the family.
Thousands of Syrian orphans are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation as child labor, child soldiers, early child marriages, and human trafficking. The on-going civil war causes more children to be orphaned and the humanitarian crisis to grow deeper.
Our Sustaining Hope program will provide a child, and their family, with clean water (where needed), nutritious supplemental food, hygiene items, educational opportunities, and more.
There may be families in your church or community who have adopted an orphan or are fostering one. There are many more families who are looking for an opportunity do one or the other, or help a ministry who serves these precious children. Would you be willing to talk with your pastor or a church leader to discuss how your church can support a child and their family through Heart for Lebanon?
Heart for Lebanon depends on a network of church partners to pray and financially partner with us to rescue these children living in highly vulnerable circumstances.
Today some 1.5 million Syrians have come to Lebanon and are registered with the UN. It is estimated that there is around 500,000 unregistered refugees in Lebanon, half of them are children under the age of 18. An additional 160,000 have no birth certificate.
In Lebanon, life is a daily struggle for Syrian refugees, who have little or no financial resources, around 70 per cent live below the poverty line.
Heart for Lebanon is working hard to help as many children as possible, leading them from despair to hope, hope in Jesus Christ.
